Like I already said, I don't think this will work. But even ignoring that, I believe that bringing such a disparate group of people with a common focus would be an impossible task.

Only way to take down the tower.....
by IslandWoman inis to act together as a united group.
i know to many of us that smacks of jwism but it's not really, it's just common sense.. take for example the colonial world in north america prior to the revolution.
there were thirteen colonies, each with their own problems, their own goals and needs.

what kind of mind-control ?
by grace4u ini need help in finding out just what kind of mind control the jw's use on their members.
i have never been a jw, and need some specifics on this to help my sister, who is a jw.. just what kind of fear tactics did they instill upon you, and other ways of mind controlling?.
i know all the doctrines from research i have done, but not really sure on the specific things they said to keep you in, not listen to outsiders, and fear from leaving the orginization.. you all are so helpful in these posts, and i know you all will give me some great info.. thanks so much, grace4u

Like I said, boring. Especially when you reference a fictional character as evidence. Oh, and I believe the Court found Manson's accomplices responsible, you can say the same thing about Hitler. When they hung those war criminals they didn't seem to think their minds had been controlled..

I agree that many who post here would claim that they were under mind control. It's consistent in exiters from any group. However, the fact that they claim it doesn't mean that it's true. It's a mechanism for denying any responsibility for the actions of a group whose every action, or nearly so, they now decry. It's the classic, "It's not my fault!" deal. "The Devil made me do it."
The idea of any kind of "mind control' has been pretty much discredited. There are no Manchurian Candidates.
Yes, Valis, I agree that guilt, and shame, are very strong levers for influencing people. Not the same thing as mind control.

I doubt very much if any external attack will succeed. If it falls, it will crumble internally.

Don't think the KM part will have any effect. Those that don't e-mail were up on their high horse, those that do were giggling.

Valis I'm perfectly happy with my statement. Mind control does not equate with "very subtle means." It is sooo typical for exiters of any group to moan about "mind control' I'm just bored with it.
Whether you pay attention to my post is completely up to you and of no concern to me. I'll ignore the magisterial "we."

Give Bill a deserved break!
by Derrick inislandwoman, i hope you don't take this topic as a personal attack because none such was intended.
in the topic why is bill bowen attacking us?
the topic's author asks about bill bowen, "why is he attacking ray franz, hillary_step and from what i've heard on this board also reinhard lengtat?".

Maybe Bill needs to give other people a break. His "either support everything I do or say or you're scum" attitude is the root of this problem. His sensational remarks are too obviously agenda driven. His reaction to any criticism or question shows a real ego problem. He needs to back off on his rhetoric for a while.

Mind control is a convenient myth for those that want to blame someone else for their past actions.

Mormons ELECT their ELDERS

The funniest thing about Mormon Elders is that they wear little name tags that say "Elder Bloggs" or whatever. I completely lost it the first time I saw that.

Might as well jump in...
by Cygnus ini have seen (edited to add the word "posted" here, for clarification purposes) on this board that bill bowen is still a jw at heart, and i have seen posts and transcipts of his where he refers to the "christian" way of handling matters.
i have it on good authority that bill is not concerned with the bible, and that he is as far from being a jw as could be (religiously speaking).
bill has refused to answer my inquiries as well as others' when asked about his position on religious/jw matters that have a bearing on his silentlambs credibility based upon direct statements made by him.

Your are indeed a brave man Cygnus. When you question someone's little tin god then they have a tendency to want to burn you at the stake.
Bravo! I say.
